Overview

Housing Rocket ("we", "us") runs housingrocket.com and moderates a network of Facebook housing groups. This policy explains what information the website collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers housingrocket.com only. Activity inside the Facebook groups is governed by Meta's terms and privacy policy.

Information we collect

• Information you give us. When you buy a paid service (Post Approval or Featured Post), Stripe collects your payment details and the information needed to complete the order, such as your name and email address. We never see or store your full card number. When you contact us through the form on our Partner page, Google Forms collects the details you enter.
• Usage information. We use PostHog analytics to understand how the site is used. It records page views, clicks on buttons and links, your browser and device type, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and an identifier stored in cookies or local storage so that repeat visits can be counted.
• Preferences. When you dismiss the Rakuten banner, the site stores a flag in your browser's local storage so the banner stays hidden.

How we use information

• To operate and improve the site and the group directory.
• To deliver paid services and respond to partner and support inquiries.
• To measure which pages, guides, and offers people use.
• To detect and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse on the site and in our groups.

Third-party services

The site relies on these providers, each of which processes data under its own privacy policy:

• Stripe processes payments for Post Approval and Featured Post orders.
• PostHog provides website analytics.
• Supabase hosts the database behind the group directory and member benefits.
• Netlify hosts the website.
• Google serves the site's web fonts and the partner inquiry form.
• Rakuten and other deal partners operate the external sites linked from our Rakuten and Member Benefits pages. Once you leave housingrocket.com, their policies apply.

Cookies and your choices

Analytics identifiers and the banner preference are stored in cookies and browser local storage. You can block or clear them in your browser settings at any time. The site keeps working, although the banner preference will not be remembered and your visits will not be counted in our analytics.

Sharing

We share information only with the service providers listed above so they can perform their services for us, or when the law requires it. We do not sell personal information.

Retention

We keep records of paid orders and partner inquiries for as long as we need them to run the service and meet legal and accounting obligations. Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings of our PostHog project.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. Contact us using the details below and we will respond as quickly as we can.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
