A lot of student housing near campus is advertised in these channels rather than on big national listing sites. Start with the school. Many universities have an off-campus housing office with listings, landlord contacts, sample leases and neighborhood guides. Then join the housing group for your college, where students post rooms, lease takeovers and roommate searches all year. Walk the streets closest to campus. Many small landlords still put up signs with a phone number. Ask in class, club and team group chats who is graduating or moving out. Look up local property management companies. In some college towns a handful of them manage most of the housing near campus. Post your own "looking for" post with your budget, move-in date and how many people are in your group. You can find groups by school on the college groups page. Whichever channel you use, see the unit in person, or have someone you trust see it, and check who the landlord is before paying anything.
