How do I write a post for a room in my apartment?

Short answer
Describe the room, the shared spaces and how the household runs, then give the rent, dates and move-in costs. Say what the room has (size, closet, window, private or shared bath), who already lives there in plain terms, and house norms such as guests, noise and cleaning. Leave out preferences about who should move in.
People looking at a room care about two things: the space and the living situation. A post that covers both gets fewer replies from people who would never fit. For example:
"ROOM FOR RENT: $850/month plus about $60 utilities, available Sept 1 through May. Furnished 11x12 room with a big closet and a west-facing window in a 3BR near the Blue Line. Bathroom shared with one other person. You would live with two grad students who work from home some days and keep things quiet after 10. We split cleaning weekly. There is a cat. Photos of the room, kitchen and bathroom below."
Photos of the kitchen and bathroom matter as much as the bedroom, because that is what the new person will share. Describing the current household is fine. Saying who you will or will not accept based on a protected trait is where posts run into trouble, so keep the post about the place and the house rules.
