What should I do with my post once the place is rented?

Short answer
Edit the post to say RENTED or TAKEN at the top, or delete it, as soon as the deal is done. That stops the flow of messages and keeps the group useful for people still searching. If you posted in several groups, update every copy, and send a quick note to anyone still waiting to hear back.
Choosing between editing and deleting:
- Mark it "PENDING" while an applicant is being approved, so others know it may still fall through.
- Edit it to "RENTED" if you might still need a backup, since people can see how to reach you.
- Delete it once the lease is signed, the first payment has cleared and the keys have changed hands.
Keep the names of your two or three strongest backup applicants for a week or two. Deals do fall through, and a message to someone who has already seen the place is far easier than starting over.
Stale listings are one of the most common complaints in housing groups. Members lose time on places that are gone, and moderators may remove posts that stay up after the place is taken.
