Why hasn't the person who posted a listing replied to my message?

Short answer
Often they haven't seen it. Messages from people who aren't Facebook friends go to message requests, which many people rarely check. Popular listings also get dozens of replies, and posters tend to answer the most complete ones first. Comment on the post so they know to look, and send one clear follow-up after a day or two.
Other common reasons:
- The place is already taken and the poster has not updated the post.
- Your message landed in a filtered or spam folder in Messenger.
- Your first message was too short to act on, such as "Is this available?"
- The poster is a landlord or tenant who checks Facebook only occasionally.
Check the post before you follow up. If the comments say "taken" or "pending", or the post has been edited to say rented, move on. If not, one follow-up with your dates and viewing times is reasonable. More than that rarely helps.
A fast reply is not automatically a good sign either. A "landlord" who answers instantly, cannot show the place and wants a deposit to hold it fits a classic scam pattern, covered in our rental scam questions.
