How do I search for listings inside a Facebook housing group?

Short answer
Open the group and use the magnifying glass inside it, not Facebook's main search bar, then type a neighborhood, street, price or a word like 'studio' or 'sublet'. Where the option appears, filter or sort results to show recent posts first, because older listings in busy housing groups are usually already taken.
Search terms that work well:
- Neighborhood names, plus their common nicknames and misspellings.
- The type of place: "studio", "1br", "room", "sublet", "takeover".
- A month or date, such as "august" or "sept 1", since posters often lead with dates.
- A nearby landmark, campus building or transit stop.
Group search matches words, not meaning, so a post that says "2 bed" will not always show up when you type "2BR". Try two or three spellings of the same thing before deciding nothing is there.
Search is best for seeing what exists and what things cost. To catch new listings, switch the group feed to show new posts first and turn on post notifications, because good rooms in busy groups often go within days.
