Why is my request to join a housing group still pending?

Short answer
Your request is pending because a moderator has not reviewed it yet. Busy housing groups get many requests, and moderators check profiles by hand before approving them. A long wait usually means a long queue, not a problem, though skipped membership questions or a profile that shows nothing can slow things down.
In Housing Rocket groups a moderator looks at every profile before approving it: whether the name matches the profile URL, how old the account is and whether it has real history and real friends, and whether it has joined dozens of housing groups in different cities. Profiles that are easy to check get approved sooner. Profiles that are hard to judge wait longer.
Things that help a pending request:
- Answer every membership question in a full sentence.
- Make sure your profile shows at least a profile photo and some public activity or friends.
- Leave the request in place rather than cancelling and resending it repeatedly.
- Avoid joining many housing groups for other cities while you wait.
