Do I have to pay to join or post in a Facebook housing group?

Short answer
No. Joining, browsing and posting in a Facebook housing group should be free. Some groups offer optional paid extras, such as faster post review or a pinned post, but nobody should charge you to join the group, to see listings or to get a landlord's contact details.
Housing Rocket groups are free to join, browse and post in. The two paid options are optional: Fast-Track Post Approval ($7.50 one-time) gets a post reviewed within 1 to 2 hours instead of waiting in the regular queue, and a Featured Post ($32.50 one-time) pins a post at the top of the group with a "Featured" badge. Neither is needed to post, and neither changes the group rules.
Be wary of anyone who asks for money in exchange for access. Common versions:
- A "membership fee" to join a private group or unlock its listings.
- Someone in the comments selling a "list of available apartments".
- A private message claiming to be from the admins and asking you to pay to keep your post up.
If a message like that arrives, do not pay through the chat. Check the group's About section and pinned posts for how any optional services actually work, and report the message to the moderators.
