How does Housing Rocket moderate its housing groups?

Short answer
Housing Rocket moderators review each member's profile before approving them and review every post before it appears. They remove spam, posts duplicated across many cities and listings that ask for money before a viewing, and decline posts missing price, location or dates. Members can report posts, and moderators review those reports.
Why each check exists:
- Joining: a name that does not match the profile URL can signal a hijacked or renamed account, a brand-new account with no history or real friends is a common scam setup, and membership in dozens of city housing groups is how fake listings get spread.
- Posting: a listing without a price, place or dates wastes everyone's time, a request for money before a viewing is the core of most rental scams, and the same text in many cities is almost always a copied listing.
- Reporting: if something slips through, or a member contacts you with a pitch that looks wrong, the report button puts it in front of the moderators, who can remove the post or the member.
Joining, browsing and posting are free. The paid options, Fast-Track Post Approval and Featured Posts, speed up review or pin a post. They do not change the rules a post has to meet.
Moderation lowers the odds of meeting a scammer, but it cannot inspect every apartment. See the place, confirm who owns or manages it, and never pay before a viewing.
