What rules do Facebook housing groups usually have?

Short answer
Most housing groups allow only housing posts for their area, require a price, location and dates, ban duplicate and cross-city posts, forbid asking for money before a viewing, and require respectful, non-discriminatory wording. Many also limit how often you can post. A group's exact rules are in its About section or a pinned post.
Rules exist mostly to keep scams and clutter out. A typical set:
- Housing only: rooms, apartments, houses, sublets, roommate searches and ISO posts for that city or campus.
- Price, location and dates in every listing.
- One post per listing, with limits on reposting.
- No deposits or fees requested before a viewing.
- No wording about who can or cannot live there based on protected traits.
- No selling furniture, advertising services or collecting leads, unless the group has a set place for it.
- Civil comments, with no pile-ons or harassment.
Details differ between groups. Some ban lease takeovers or short stays, some require a post format, and some college groups focus on students and staff. Read them once when you join, because breaking a rule you agreed to is one of the quickest ways to get a post declined or lose your membership.
