Can I post a listing for a friend or someone else?

Short answer
Usually yes, if you say so in the post and can answer questions or put people in touch with whoever controls the place. Write 'posting for a friend' near the top and say who will show it. Posts where nobody can explain who owns or leases the place look like scams and may be declined.
People post for friends, relatives and departing roommates all the time, especially when that person is not on Facebook. Make the arrangement clear:
- Whose place it is: "my roommate's room", "my parents' rental unit".
- Who renters will deal with for viewings, the lease and payment.
- How to reach that person, or that you will pass messages on.
- Whether the landlord knows, if it is a sublet or takeover.
Stick to places you know. Posting listings for people you have never met, or for several different acquaintances from one account, starts to look like a lead-collecting or scam account, and moderators treat it that way.
A common setup for scams is a "friend" or online contact who asks you to post their apartment because they are overseas and cannot show it. If you cannot see the place yourself, do not post it.
