Posting a listing
Can landlords and property managers post in Facebook housing groups?
Updated By the Housing Rocket moderators
Short answer
Yes. An individual landlord renting out their own unit can post like any member, following the same rules. In Housing Rocket groups, property management companies and agents post as a Verified Business, and those who want to reach renters in many groups at once can book a campaign instead.
For a landlord posting a unit, the listings that do best read like a helpful neighbor, not an ad:
- One unit per post, or one post that lists each unit with its own price and dates.
- Your real name and profile, and whether you own or manage the place.
- Application requirements up front: income, credit, pets, lease length.
- Viewing times, and no fees or deposits requested before a viewing.
Property management companies and agents post as a Verified Business. Those that want to reach renters in many groups at once can book a campaign across the groups. Pasting the same promotional text into many groups from a personal account tends to be removed as spam, even when the units are real.
If you use a leasing agent or a company page, say who the renter will actually deal with and where they can see the place. A listing that hides who is behind it gets the same scrutiny as any post from an unknown account.
