How much should I charge for my sublet?

Short answer
Price it against what similar short-term rooms and apartments nearby actually rent for, not just your own rent. In busy seasons you may get close to what you pay. In slow months or for awkward dates, expect to charge less, since covering most of your rent beats an empty place.
Look at sublets being offered in your area for the same months, then adjust:
- Timing: summer near universities is competitive for sellers, since many students leave at once. Winter and short gaps are harder.
- Length: a full three-month summer is easier to fill than eight days in the middle of a month.
- Furnished: a fully furnished place with kitchen basics and internet can charge more than an empty room.
- Utilities: an all-in price is easier to compare and more attractive than "rent plus a share of bills."
- How soon it starts: prices often come down as the start date gets closer.
A practical approach: list at a fair market price, and decide in advance the lowest you will accept and by what date you will drop to it. Two weeks before the start, a lower price that gets it filled usually beats paying full rent on an empty room.
